The Conserver Society, along with the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, spearheaded the Hamilton Coalition on Pesticide Issues (HCPI). This group was composed of more than twenty-three environmental organisations, church groups, neighbourhood associations and individuals, HCPI’s goals were to educate the public about the health risks from pesticide exposure, and to provide information about alternatives to pesticides. A community education programme was developed and reps sat on the City of Hamilton Task Force on Pesticide Reduction. Hamilton now has a municipal policy/bylaw regarding cosmetic pesticide use
